Norman Piette - Goods-In Shed

CBL Consulting were appointed by JWR to provide civil and structural engineering services for the new 'Goods-In Shed' at Norman Piette in Guernsey.

Due to varying made ground on the site a piled foundation solution was used, utilising reinforced concrete piles and pile caps at column locations, tied by a grid of reinforced concrete ground beams. The ground floor comprised a reinforced concrete ground bearing slab. Above ground, structure for the building was designed as a single, two-storey steel portal frame with a cast insitu composite concrete metal deep trough deck at first floor level.

As well as structural design and detail, CBL undertook civil aspects in the project, designing and detailing surface water drainage for the building and surrounding area, and the service yard’s concrete ground floor slab.
