Works to develop 'The Lea' began with the complete demolition of the previous 'Blossom Fields' care home. CBL Consulting have acted as both Structural & Civil Engineer throughout this project to provide complete civil & structural design & detail. CBL were responsible for providing complete design & detail for both foul & surface water drainage services, optimising the use of the sites proposed permeable paving & soakaway systems to disperse surface water. Foul water from the units was designed to travel throughout site into a singular high-capacity on-site cesspit. Substructure for each of the units was designed and detailed by CBL Consulting in the form of reinforced concrete raft slabs, while superstructure was designed to optimise the use of traditional construction materials; timber, steel, concrete, and masonry.
